Alex Katz is one of my favourite contemporary artist.
Katz depicts family members, art-world friends and Maine landscapes. I love his use of vibrant colour and bold graphic lines. His images are so powerful… they seem to glow!
His Soho loft where he has worked & lived since the 60′s was featured in AD February 2012 issue.

This week we are finishing up phase 1 on a lovely Brighton home we have been working on for the past seven months. It’s always very exciting to see it all come together.
One of my favorite parts of the an install is hanging the art work. Our art hanger Dave has become an expert at gallery walls!

Kitchen Re-Vamp Inspiration

I’m working on the plans for my new kitchen… or old kitchen revamped is more like it.
Thinking green maybe… and that we should maximise storage/ make the most of the high ceiling by incorporate a library ladder.
We’ll be keeping our Viking range that we brought with us from the US and of course be using my favourite classic subway tiles.

Vintage Surfaces

These Louis Vuitton vintage trunks and suitcases would make such lovely resting surfaces atop one another. The whimsical imaginings of their travels is a delightful thought too!

This vintage Goyard case is wonderful too! Goyard began as a luggage label in Paris by Francois Goyard in 1853. The fabric represents three chevrons, juxtaposed to form a Y in multi colors. Evoking the name of the Maison as well as the tree; symbolizing three centuries of the Goyard family history and their “Compagnon de Rivière” ancestors.

Goyard is now manufacture in Carassonne in France, a magical village of 20,000 people, dating back to 3500BC.

Tuesday Ties

I hope you have had a great start to the week! Speaking of the versatility of simple collections yesterday, I had to post some beautiful vintage Hermes scarves!

They would look especially beautiful framed in little sets, or the larger ones on their own in hallways or above small desks and book shelves.

The Hermes website is most noteworthy for their beautiful illustrations; child like and sweet.They also have an interesting video of the process in making a hand bag. Such attention to detail and boldness of color!

Rather nostalgic of ‘Le Petit Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry ‘The Little Prince’ which was a French novella published in 1943, selling over 200 millions sales. Their visual appeal is that same of Hermes; delicate and charming in their simplicity.

Monday Matters, Pretty Platters

I hope you had a lovely weekend full of love and brightness! I would love to share with you a beautiful home ware designer, John Derian.

He is a (handsome!) talented decoupage artist and founded the company in 1989. His first collection was of seashells, as he tells Country Living “I was hooked after I polished a dark one to a bright, shiny white”.

His array of pretty home accessories are renowned world wide and adored by yours truly on the 7th floor of Bergdorf’s! His designs are handmade in his studio in New York, a new range released each season to be collected or simply treasured on its own. I love seeing new and inventive ways of displaying them. How would you use a platter from John Derian?
