Many thanks to Adore Home online magazine for featuring an article by yours truly in its fabulous New York issue, out now. Following my recent buying trip, I’ve shared some of my favourite spots to visit while in the Big Apple. Adore Home is celebrating its first birthday this issue too, so a big hip hooray is definitely in order!
Has everyone been tuning into the new Bravo reality TV series Million Dollar Decorators? The show follows five of my LA-based colleagues – Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Kathryn Ireland, Jeffrey Alan Marks, Mary McDonald, and Nathan Turner. The houses are incredible and the budgets even more so. We downloaded the entire series from iTunes, and I’m already hanging out for Season 2! The first season is currently airing here on Arena on Foxtel on Wednesdays.
The other night we attended Australian House & Garden’s Top 50 Rooms awards for 2011. It was a brilliant evening and we’re excited to have a room in the running. I’d love it if you could all please throw some votes my way – it only takes a minute and you’ll have the chance to win a fantastic $5599 St George kitchen package. P.S. AD Spain - June 2011
We just found out that our home has been featured yet again, this time on the cover of AD Spain’s June issue along with a 10-page article inside. Fabulous news… perhaps it’s time for a new story though?! No, really, we’re thrilled and flattered to be getting such wonderful press.
Other European covers
I’ve arrived in New York for a buying trip (which will also include West Palm Beach) and I’ll be filling a container with one-off treasures. While here I’m staying at the Gramercy Park Hotel and with the wonderful Michelle Adams of Lonny mag. The Gramercy Park Hotel is, in a word, spectacular – Bohemian beauty in a truly contemporary context – and a far cry from the neutral tones you find in most luxury hotels. The GPH also has the most incredible collection of art, with works from Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and George Condo to name just a few. You can view them here at www.artgph.com.
Just had breakfast and coffee in Gramercy Park, a private garden that’s accessible only by key (the hotel lent me theirs!). Serene, sunny and sublimely quiet, the park is the perfect place to kick back with an almond croissant, an espresso and a copy of the Times. Gramercy Park was created by visionary developer Samuel Ruggles, who wanted to create an oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the city. A walk along its paths reveals some of NYC’s architectural gems, including The Player’s Club, the Gothic revival National Arts Club, the Stuyvesant Fish House and 36 Gramercy Park East, a stunning neo-Gothic structure.
