Capri

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Simon Doonan’s article A Capri Affair in the August issue of Travel & Leisure has evoked all of my wonderful memories of Capri. I absolutely love the place! Doonan and designer husband Jonathan Adler, travelled to Capri with fashion designer Trina Turk and her photographer husband Jonathan Skow. Looking at all their beautiful photos, it’s not hard to see how they were all utterly inspiration by everything they saw – the sea, the beach, the Capresi people…

After flipping through the article, I couldn’t help but have (yet another) a look at Pamela Fiori’s gorgeous book In the Spirit of Capri. I have had this book for a long time, but every time I pick it up I am inspired. Capri really is a special place.

madova_gloves.jpg

Madova of Florence is proud to be the only shop in Europe that produces and sells leather gloves exclusively (made in its factory just steps away from the shop). They also make gloves for labels such as Bergdorf Goodman, Burberrys, Neiman-Marcus, Gucci, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue just to name a few. Madova gloves are butter -soft and come in a spectrum of amazing colors with linings of silk, lambswool, or leather.
The staff was very helpful, and with just one look at our hands knew exactly what size would be the perfect fit!

MIA

Sorry about the posting slump!
I am just back from a two-week family holiday in Italy.
We rented a villa in Tuscany. Villa Catola was the perfect place for an extended family holiday, it’s an old family home filled with unpretentious charm.

Secret Prada Space

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

While on my Tuscan adventure, I heard about the Prada factory outlet in Montevarchi that apparently is somewhat of a local secret, Prada and discount are rarely in the same phrase. The store is in an industrial zone and never advertised. .
My sister and I headed over and were not disappointed! It was Prada heaven!
I have included a map to be bookmarked just in case you are ever in the general vicinity.
