New York
I’ve arrived in New York for a buying trip (which will also include West Palm Beach) and I’ll be filling a container with one-off treasures. While here I’m staying at the Gramercy Park Hotel and with the wonderful Michelle Adams of Lonny mag. The Gramercy Park Hotel is, in a word, spectacular – Bohemian beauty in a truly contemporary context – and a far cry from the neutral tones you find in most luxury hotels. The GPH also has the most incredible collection of art, with works from Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and George Condo to name just a few. You can view them here at www.artgph.com.

Park Life
Just had breakfast and coffee in Gramercy Park, a private garden that’s accessible only by key (the hotel lent me theirs!). Serene, sunny and sublimely quiet, the park is the perfect place to kick back with an almond croissant, an espresso and a copy of the Times. Gramercy Park was created by visionary developer Samuel Ruggles, who wanted to create an oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the city. A walk along its paths reveals some of NYC’s architectural gems, including The Player’s Club, the Gothic revival National Arts Club, the Stuyvesant Fish House and 36 Gramercy Park East, a stunning neo-Gothic structure.

I’ve never been one to travel light. Not only do I always check bags, I also carry on a large stylish tote, heavy and never equipped with wheels.

Since I have started making frequent short trips to Sydney to meet with clients I am determined to change my ways. I searched high & low for the perfect carry on. It needed to be chic, light, and functional.

My new Heys xcase in orange fits the bill. Teamed with my Kate Spade laptop case I am in and out of airports without a hitch or backache!

I love Stan Topol’s Atlanta office.
The black patent wallpaper makes such a statement.

People always ask me if I get home sick and what I miss most. The obvious of course… Friends & family, The D&D building, Ruben sandwiches. But something I really miss is rummaging around a good Estate sale. My friend Sarah and I would study the Friday New York Times Estate Sale/ Yard Sale listings and strategically outline our plan of attack. It’s very important to arrive early to the sale that you think will be a winner, and proceed to the next one on your list. Some of my most treasured finds are from these sales, and somehow the hunt is part of what makes them special.
